Designing a baby ID bracelet, step by step

A baby ID bracelet is a small plate with an engraved name and a ring hole at each end for the chain that goes around the wrist. Because it is small and thin, both the weight and the wall thickness need attention. In Kumpix it takes a few minutes, starting from a template.

1. Open the template

On the start screen, choose Baby ID Bracelet under Templates → Traditional (or Child ID Tag for the model with two safety rings). The same models are in the list of traditional jewelry templates.

2. Type the name

The name is engraved into the plate. You can choose Plain, Script, Script 2, Serif as the font; lettering is cut with fonts built into the app.

3. Enter the dimensions

Defaults of the Baby ID Bracelet template: plate length 25 mm, width 7 mm, thickness 1 mm, wrist radius 22 mm, ring hole 1.6 mm. The ranges the Child ID Tag template accepts:

ParameterRange
Name (engraved)up to 10 letters
Plate length (mm)22.0–28.0 mm
Width (mm)6.0–10.0 mm
Thickness (mm)0.8–1.4 mm
Wrist radius (mm)18.0–22.0 mm
Ring hole (mm)1.2–1.8 mm
FontPlain, Script, Script 2, Serif

4. Casting check and weight

The Kumpix engine measured the default Baby ID Bracelet (14K Gold) as follows: thinnest wall 0.50 mm (limit for this metal 0.6 mm), casting check yellow: casting is possible, watch the thin areas. Weight: 14K 2.55 g, 18K 3.04 g, 22K 3.43 g.

A thicker plate adds both wall and weight. Where the wall limits come from is explained in minimum wall thickness for casting; how the weight is calculated, in 14K, 18K and 22K gold weight.

5. Show the customer and export

Send the model to the customer's phone with an approval link; once approved, export it as STL for casting or 3MF for printing. Details are on the customer approval and file formats pages.
